Personality

Dakota tends to keep to himself most of the time, and enjoys his alone time just as much as he likes talking to his friends. He loves listening to other peoples passions, and encouraging them to chase their dreams. Watching other people progress in their skills and hobbies encourages him to do the same, though it makes him jealous if they've gotten better than him at something he likes doing. Dakota likes helping out where he can, and tries his best to help someone find the answer to a question they have, or help them figure out how to do something if he's able to.

Dakota has a hard time opening up to others, and prefers to bottle up his emotions. He has a hard time explaining how he feels, and would rather not bother someone when he's not feeling okay. He has a tendency of blaming himself when something goes wrong. Dakota is prone to panic attacks, and will often go to a secret spot in the woods that he's made for himself so he can calm down.

Dakota is thin and has a height of 5'4. He loves wearing warmer colors, and loves wearing his cape everywhere he goes! He likes bringing his phanny pack with him so he has an extra pocket.

Backstory

Dakota grew up with just his father. He doesn't remember his mother after she left when he was about three. Growing up, his father didn't always have a lot of extra money to spend. Dakota was thankful that they always had enough food to get by, even if it wasn't brand name. He loved it when his dad was able to get him a new toy or video game, and he loved showing his grandparents his new things. While they also got him things, it felt more special when his dad was able to get him something.

When he was younger, Dakota loved how superheroes looked with capes! He didn't really care about the shows themselves though. He'd often tied a blanket around himself in a makeshift cape, and it eventually got to the point he'd always be wearing one around the house, either tied around himself, or just covering himself. He loved collecting blankets because of this.

Dakota had a few pets throughout his childhood. He mostly had cats that ended up wandering off. He loved each one of them, and liked to think they found another loving home. Besides blankets, he loved collecting cat plushies and books about cats! He did have a dog or two, and absolutely adores both, but he's always been slightly more of a cat person. Dakota doesn't really talk about his previous pets due to missing them too much.

He became best friends with another kid in school named Lucia. The two of them did all kinds of things together! He'd make up games for them to play, and Lucia would tell him creative stories that she admitted to making up on the spot. The two of them could almost always be spotted with each other. Dakota promised to always be by her side no matter what happens.

While Dakota got good grades in school, he'd get in trouble from time to time and end up in the principal's office. He had a hard time sitting still in class, and would often get up and look around the classroom whenever he was done with his school work. He was diagnosed with ADHD and was put on medication for it. He hated the side effects of the medicine, and could've sworn he fainted from dizziness once.

When he was out in the woods behind his house one day, Dakota thought about how fun it'd be to swing from vines through the trees, or even have a vine swing. He was leaning against a tree when he noticed vines started appearing after he thought that. It startled him, and it took him a few minutes to realize that he had Elementalism magic that allowed him to control plants.

Dakota had a lot of fun seeing what he could do with plant magic, and over the next few months he made himself his own little secret spot in the woods. He started reading books about different kinds of plants and flowers to see what all he could grow. He told Lucia about his magic, and took her to his spot. The two of them would often play or hang out there!

When Dakota was about ten, he was devastated to hear that Lucia was going to be moving to Patrune. Lucia had told him that she tried talking her parents out of it, but she wasn't able to. He had no idea when he'd be able to see her again! While he was able to keep in contact with her through mail, it just wasn't the same! He kept in touch with her for a couple years, but eventually lost contact with her when he was around twelve.

As Dakota grew older, he helped around the house in any way that he could. His grandparents helped with money issues, and when he was in middle school, Dakota was finally able to get online and surf the web at home! He quickly went by the name Nero online. He had a hard time making friends at school and online, and ended up in drama without meaning to. He soon learned to keep to himself more often than not. He's not proud of the things he's said and done, and now knows he was in the wrong for being dramatic.

Now as an adult, Dakota stays home and helps his dad and grandparents. He's terrified of going out into the world, and he doesn't want to get hurt, physically or mentally. He stays at home or in his secret little part of the woods, hoping to one day come across his old friend again. He's made a promise to himself to reconnect with her someday.

Currently, Dakota is reunited with Lucia, and he's moved in with her. She helped him with his anxiety, and now he's volunteering at a nearby cat rescue.
