"Why do you deserve that when you already have so much more than me?"

Personality

Pamo is a stubborn, close-minded red panda who's set on his goal of getting whatever he thinks he deserves. While he loves making pottery, and is always striving to make new and unique designs, he's also a pirate and a thief who will steal anything he's longing to have. He's a master at the slight of hand, and can get away with stealing things right under someone's nose if he's determined to get it. He's a quick learner, and can catch on to new things fairly quickly.

While he may be a thief, he has sympathy for those who are like him and never had much, and he'll steal things for them, leaving it for them to find. Pamo is aware of the consequences he'll face if he's caught, and knows how much trouble he'll get in if he ends up stealing from the wrong person, but despite that he won't let that stop him if it helps others like him. Pamo is haughty, and finds it exhilarating how he can smooth talk his way into getting things he wants. He can also be snarky when someone says something he thinks is dumb.

Appearance

Pamo is 5'6ft and has a chubby build. He has a bad leg, and is often seen with a sword with a sheath that doubles as a cane. He's normally seen in his pirate outfit.

Backstory

Pamo didn't have much growing up in the small town of Chemora. It was only him, his sister Poppy, and his dad Clematis, at home. Clematis wasn't able to make enough money to get all the things that Pamo and Poppy wanted. While he did get some things, Pamo didn't realize how little his family could get. He never did get to meet his mom, and when he asked his dad about her, Pamo never really got an answer. He only heard her name, and how his mom stole his heart.

He learned how to make pottery at a young age after watching his dad. He loved making little cups, vases, or other small things, then let his sister paint them. While he wasn't great at the painting part, he was good at making things out of clay. Pamo would often play with leftover clay that Clematis wasn't using that day to make whatever he thought of! Not all of it was put in the kiln. He just liked playing with it most of the time, but he did end up making his dad and sister a few things.

Pamo had a good amount of friends growing up. He was always confused by the latest trends going around school, but that didn't stop him from having fun, even when he didn't have the latest game or toy. Pamo became good friends with one of his classmates, Quark. He liked hearing about Quark's parents and what they did, and would often wonder what his mom was like or what she was up to. The day he got to visit Quark's house was the day he realized how little he had compared to others, and was when he wanted more for himself and his family.

Pamo started longing for the things he couldn't get, and would avoid chats about things he wanted, but knew he wouldn't be able to get for a long time. He'd even tune out his best friends when he couldn't stand it, and even started getting jealous of them to the point he'd avoid them for a few days. The feeling never went away as he grew up, and Pamo started hated the days after holidays and birthday parties. Why'd they deserve such new and neat things?! Their families could afford it while he was the one living with a poor family, so he obviously deserved it more!

As he grew older, Pamo started helping his dad make pottery for the local trader's market. He'd see all the stands and the things he wanted from them. Sometimes he could make a successful trade, but other times he had to leave the stand in defeat, and could only wish that he could've gotten what he wanted. Pamo told himself that he'd become an amazing pottery master just like his dad! Maybe they'd all be able to live comfortably if he did?

Pamo would make as much pottery as he could to sell and trade at the trader's market. He'd make sure his family would have what they need to get by first, then he'd move on to get the things he wanted. While he didn't always have enough money left, or much interest in trades after getting what they all needed, Pamo was able to get a few things he wanted.

Pamo started getting desperate, and soon learned how to smooth talk merchants into giving him discounts, or even giving him things for free. He grew distant from Quark without telling his friend how he felt, and even grew to dislike Quark somewhat for what she had. During the trader's market one year, a thief's guild reached out to him, and offered him a place among them. Pamo was quick to accept when they mentioned how they could help him get the things he'd always wanted. Pamo was quick to learn slight of hand tricks, and stole things from right under others' noses when he was feeling brave.

He continued to make pottery, letting everyone believe that was his true occupation, and that he was finally making enough money to get some of the things he wanted. He was careful so his dad wouldn't find out about the thievery. While Pamo loved making pottery and being able to live off of that, he found it exhilarating to get away with thefts. Pamo formed his own little moral compass while stealing. If he saw someone in a similar situation as him when he was young, he'd snatch something up and leave it for them to find.

Pamo never did tell Quark about how he felt, how he was envious of all that she'd been able to get, or how he believed he deserved it more. He kept up a happy facade around her and his own family. Everything was fine! He'd be able to get himself and his family the things they wanted eventually. As his jealousy grew, so did his greed. While he did hide these feelings away, Pamo did truly like to hang out with Quark.

After over a year of Quark declining his invitations to hang out with him, Pamo had enough. Why wouldn't his best friend hang out with him? Sure, she was a scientist, but she should make time for her friend! He grew more distant from his friends and family, and started to spend most of his time with the thief's guild he's come to call his second home.

While spending his time at the thief's guild, Pamo heard them whispering. Why were they whispering about some legendary thief? Was he that good? He'd eavesdrop here and there, picking up tidbits of what they were saying, and only confronted them when he heard a name he recognized. Flor Sakurada. That was his mom! Why were they talking about her?! What did they know?

Pamo learned that Flor's a well know thief around Asira, and she didn't like staying in one place for very long. When he asked where she was now, Pamo found out that she went out to sea. He was also told how the guild partners up with some pirate crews, and that she's probably on one of them. Pamo thought long and hard, and decided he wanted to chase after his mom. If he became a legendary thief, then he and his family could live a life of luxury!

Over the next few weeks, Pamo saw his family less and less as he looked into the pirate crews who were partnered up with the guild. After noticing the interest, one of the crews reached out to Pamo and offered to take him along. Over the weekend, Pamo thought it over. He doubted his family would let him leave, so he decided to pack his things late at night, and left without a goodbye to join the Buccaneer Bandits. He left his life behind him to steal treasure with a whole crew, and sailed the seas to enjoy the life of a pirate.

In the present, Pamo is still sailing with the Buccaneer Bandits. He got his own kiln on the ship, and still likes to sell the things he makes when they set anchor. After an accident in a fight with another ship, one of Pamo's legs was left beat up. He currently uses a sword cane to get around easier. He's still searching for his mom, and hasn't been in contact with his friends or family, and doesn't regret his decision. He knows he'll be back one day.
