"What makes you think that way?"

Personality

Quark is a smart and patient mouse who thinks with logic over emotions. Puzzles and problems are something she absolutely loves, and she can be seen working on some kind of problem most days. Be it Sudoku or helping someone in need. She's amazing at walking someone through a problem, and has been told she'd make a great teacher. While she's decided against teaching, Quark will help others learn something new if they ask her. She loves learning, and will happily listen to anyone talk about their interests, or how their day went. She's quite social, and will even ask questions to complete strangers if they catch her interest.

Quark is over confident in herself, and that can cause her to come off as a know-it-all to others, especially when she boasts about how she was the first one to solve something. When she speaks, she's normally blunt and to the point, which can turn others away from her. It's something she's trying to get better at. She has a hard time keeping in touch with others when she's fully focused on her work, and will oftentimes forget to respond to someone.

Appearance

Quark is a short and slim mouse who's 4'11ft. She has a tear on her right ear. She can often be seen wearing a tan lab coat.

Relationships

Pamo

Pamo is one of Quark's friends she met in school, and has kept contact with him ever since until he disappeared. She's doing what she can to try and find him, and hope he's doing alright.

Backstory

Quark grew up in a large home in the small town of Chemora. She would normally only see one of her parents at a time due to their jobs, so she started loving the holidays they'd all be together! She learned a lot about what the two of them did for work when she was young, even if she didn't understand what they did at the time. Her father, Monty, was a cognitive scientist who loved studying the mind! Quark liked hearing about the things he learned. Her mother, Brie, was a doctor, and came home with happy stories to tell Quark.

The young mouse took great interest in both of her parents' jobs growing up, and she loved telling others her age how amazing her parents were! She listened intently when her parents came home with stories, and would often retell the most interesting ones to her friends, especially to her best friend Pamo. While she was normally only able to see one parent at a time due to work, she became close to both of her parents. Quark liked trying to make them neat little things for birthdays and holidays.

When she was an older kid, Quark talked her parents into letting her go with them to work. She watched her mother talk with and treat patients, save lives, and even got to learn about some of the medical equipment she uses. While she found all of it interesting, Quark discovered she loved her father's job even more, and began wondering how the mind works. She quickly got into watching others as they went about on their day.

As a teenager, Quark would often watch her classmates, or bring a puzzle book to the local park or coffee shop to see how everyone interacted with each other as she worked on her puzzles. She was excited for the day she started to go off on her own, and wondered what exactly she wanted to do. Quark would often daydream about working with her father, or teaching in a school. She loved the idea of being a teacher and watching how young minds interact with the world around them.

Quark was leaning toward being a teacher until an incident happened at her favorite lake. Brie had taken her up to the lake one summer, and Quark had been getting along with the other teens that were swimming, at least until someone decided it'd be fun to dunk everyone. Quark tried swimming away, only to be dunked deeper than she was meant to be. Her tail got caught on something as she tried swimming away. Quark was trying to get her tail unstuck, and had sliced her ear on some sharp rocks while in a panic.

Thankfully for her, Pamo was there with her, noticed she hadn't resurfaced, and dove to help her out. Shaking and scared, Quark was led to the shore by her friend, thanking him along the way. After getting patched up, Quark decided on the way home that she'd much rather work with her father instead of being a teacher. Sure, she'd still love to teach kids, but this made her think about things that could go wrong and hurt one of the kids.

Quark didn't go back to that lake, and she thought of the tear in her ear as a reminder to never go swimming again. No matter how much she tried, she'd freeze around lakes and pools when she did try going for a swim, and eventually stopped trying. Quark was upset that the tear in her ear didn't heal correctly, and it took some time before it stopped getting to her. When asked about it, she started redirecting the conversation to something else.

Once she was old enough, Quark quickly started working with Monty at Queso Labs. She learned that she worked well with him, and she loved coming home to tell her mother anything interesting that she found out. Quark still likes to go to the hospital from time to time and watch her mother work when she's allowed to. Quark's learned some basic medical things from Brie, and makes sure to remember what she's learn in case it'll be needed later.

As a young adult, Quark started getting busier with her work. She was terrible at keeping an eye on the clock when she was doing what she loved, and would often forget she could've clocked out an hour ago. She'd do the same thing at the cafe she often visited, and would get so sidetracked with watching others that she'd forget how long she's been there.

While she kept in touch with Pamo, Quark wasn't the best at scheduling things with him. She'd continue talking with him, but she was too invested with her work and studies that it completely slipped her mind just how long she'd gone without seeing her friend. It didn't help when she adopted a pet rat she named Colby either. She'd bring Colby with her wherever she went if she could get away with it, and could often be spotted with the little rat hiding in her pocket when she went to the lab.

When Pamo started growing distant, Quark thought that he and his dad's pottery business had taken off, causing him to become busy with work. She didn't think too much of it at first, but was concerned once Pamo's messages completely stopped. After a week without a message from him, she was contacted by Pamo's dad, Clematis. She'd found out that Pamo had gone missing, and no one could find him anywhere. Quark took a whole week off to try and find her friend, but nothing came up.

Today, Quark continues to work at Queso labs with her father, and is worried about Pamo. She splits her free time between her normal cafe routine, and searching for Pamo with Clematis. So far, every lead she thought she had led to a dead end, but she continues to believe that Pamo is out there, and hopes he's alright.
