"You can't change the past, so let's work toward changing the future."

Personality

Yumi is someone who's kind and intellegent, though he's a little more street smart than book smart. He has an excellent memory, and can recall many different kinds of facts, or what happened on a certain day. He has a small group a friends that he's close to and loves to hang out with. He'll happily lend money to a friend without expecting anything in return, but is hesitant to give money to strangers unless it's for a charity he believes in.

Because he was raised in a rich household, Yumi feels the need to prove that he can do things for himself without the need to mention that he has the money to do the things he wants. He'd rather spend that cash on someone who actually needs it. Because he wants to prove himself, he has a hard time accepting gifts to the point he's stubborn about it. When he's bored, Yumi will often unintentionally end up causing trouble, normally through his illusions. He doesn't think too much about it since they can't affect the world anyway. He doesn't really like to talk about himself, and prefers to hear about others.

Appearance

Yumi is fit and stands at 5'7ft. He'll often be found in warm colors and/or striped clothes, and can be seen wearing jewelry like necklaces or bracelets from time to time. Most of the jeans he wears has some kind of rip in them. While he's normally seen with dark blue hair, his natural hair color is black. Yumi is almost always seen wearing his favorite hat! He also likes to wear beanies during the winter.

Relationships

Izzy

Yumi considers Izzy one of his closest friends, and he's proud of how they've grown up and changed themself for the better

Backstory

Growing up in a rich household, Yumi was quite often spoiled. He liked his life, but he found it a little boring. He was home schooled and didn't get to meet many kids his age, so he enjoyed the time he got to go to the park with his mother, Amelia. He did befriend a kid he'd often see there named Izzy, and they'd eventually go to each other's houses, and have sleepovers.

Yumi liked listening to Izzy's rambles. It was cool to hear how someone lived so differently from him! The ramble that interested him the most, however, was about school. He wanted to meet more people and make new friends. He talked to his mom about letting him go to a public school so he could hang out with Izzy there, and she finally agreed to his request during middle school.

Once he was transferred to Izzy's school, Yumi heard the other kids talking about the rumor of a rich kid coming to school, and how some of the kids wanted to get money from them. He wasn't sure if the rumor was true, but he was careful about the new friends he did make. He didn't want others to like him just for his money, so he happily stuck with Izzy and their friend group.

Yumi had a lot of fun hanging out with his friends, especially when they all started figuring out what their magic was. He was one of the last ones in his friend group to figure his out. Yumi wasn't bothered by being the last, he knew the magic would come eventually, and oh boy was it worth it! Once he found out he could create illusions, Yumi had a fun time messing with his friends.

Just before high school, Yumi was asked out by Izzy and he said yes. He was happy with his partner even if the relationship only lasted that summer. While he loved spending time with them, Yumi felt like he didn't have enough time to himself. He thought things would get better, after all he'd heard of new relationship energy before, and it was nice spending more time with Izzy.

The last straw for their relationship was when Yumi's mom admitted to him that she wasn't his birth mom. He was told that his parents, Ruby and Johanson, didn't agree about having a child. Amelia mentioned how she and Ruby are close friends, and instead of giving him up for adoption, Ruby gave him to her since she wasn't able to have kids of her own. Yumi asked why Ruby hasn't come to visit, and he learned that neither of them told Johanson what they did, so they didn't know how he'd react.

While Amelia thought Yumi was ready to hear the truth, Yumi was devastated, and it took him months to accept it. During the first week or so after the news, Izzy kept messaging him, and no matter how he explained it, his partner didn't understand why he wanted to be alone. Yumi soon sat down and had a talk with Izzy about that, and them. He didn't think the relationship would work, and felt it'd be better if they stuck to being friends, even if it was for a little while.

Yumi stayed best friends with Izzy, and stuck close to them throughout high school as he got use to the fact he was adopted. Yumi confided in Izzy that he felt he didn't deserve all the stuff he had. Who knows if Ruby was wealthy or not. As he was starting to accept it, Izzy gifted him a hat that he continues to wear, and keep in good condition to this day.

After graduating, Yumi kept in touch with Izzy, and decided he should prove to himself that he could do things on his own without the help of Amelia's money, even though he did still love her dearly. He decided to master his magic by himself, often using it to create illusions on blank walls, or even an illusion of birds after he's come to like them.

He wanted to travel around Nemorstom, even inviting Izzy along if they'd like to, but they declined. He was proud his friend wanted to work on themself. He set off in a 5th wheel he bought, and quickly found a love for taking photos of his travels. After settling on the edge of Unity City for a few months, and moving into a mansion that Amelia helped him pick out, he adopted a cockatiel he named Cookie, and she's become his friend and travel companion.

Currently, Yumi has taken on studying under the Celestial of Nemorstom to further understand magic in general, and has been a Celestialite for a few years now. He's still best friends with Izzy, and keeps in touch with them. He's keeping an eye out to find Ruby, and still hopes to meet her someday.
